Why I’m building MOMENTUM
Financial independence becomes more useful when people have the clarity, confidence, and community to decide what it should make possible.
Financial independence is often presented as a number. Calculate your expenses, multiply by a prescribed amount, invest consistently, and wait until work becomes optional.
The math matters. It can tell you whether your current plan is plausible and help you measure progress. But a number cannot tell you what deserves your attention, what tradeoffs are worth making, or what you want your freedom to be for.
Those are human questions. They are also difficult questions to answer alone.
That is why I’m building MOMENTUM: The Financial Independence Community.
Information is abundant. Clarity is harder to find.
There has never been more financial information available. You can find an article, podcast, video, calculator, or strongly worded social media post about almost any money decision within seconds.
More information does not always create a better decision. It can make the possibilities harder to sort through. Advice that is perfectly reasonable for one person may be useless for someone at a different stage of financial independence, with different responsibilities, values, resources, or risks.
Most people do not need an endless stream of instructions. They need enough clarity to understand where they are, enough confidence to choose what matters next, and enough support to keep moving when life refuses to follow the spreadsheet.
Financial independence is shaped by daily behavior and long-term goals. The two are usually discussed separately. We talk about budgets, investments, debt, and withdrawal rates in one conversation, then purpose, family, work, identity, and well-being in another. Real life does not divide itself so neatly.
MOMENTUM brings those conversations together.
The right community changes what feels possible.
I have seen this repeatedly through the communities I’ve helped build. Talented people often underestimate what they can create until they find others who recognize their potential, understand the work, and expect them to take their ideas seriously.
Opportunity matters as much as talent. Encouragement matters. Accountability matters. So does having a place where you can admit that you are uncertain, change your mind, or discover that the goal you have been pursuing no longer belongs to you.
The best communities expand ambition while keeping it grounded in the life a person actually wants. They expose us to possibilities we may not have imagined on our own. They also remind us that progress does not have to look the same for everyone.
That is the kind of community I want MOMENTUM to become.
Financial independence has more than one stage.
Someone trying to build basic financial stability has different immediate needs from someone preparing to leave work. Someone who has reached financial independence may be facing an entirely new set of questions about identity, purpose, family, contribution, and the responsible use of freedom.
MOMENTUM is being designed around those differences. Members can identify their current stage, choose a meaningful area of focus, and work through practical Quests that turn intention into action. The community provides a place to compare experiences, test assumptions, learn from people at other stages, and make decisions with greater clarity and confidence.
The goal is not to move everyone through an identical program. It is to help each person understand what progress means in the context of their own life.
That might mean creating a real safety net, changing a spending pattern, dealing with debt, increasing income, simplifying investments, preparing to leave work, or figuring out what comes after reaching “enough.” The immediate work varies. The larger purpose remains the same: use money to create greater agency over your time, attention, and choices.
Freedom should lead somewhere.
Reaching financial independence changed what I could choose. The most important result was the ability to give more of my time to worthwhile work, my family, and the communities I care about.
Freedom carries an invitation. It asks what we will attempt, whom we will help, and what we can build together. Self-actualization belongs at the heart of financial independence because the point is larger than escaping a job or reaching a portfolio target. It is about becoming more capable of living according to your values and contributing what you are uniquely able to contribute.
MOMENTUM is my attempt to create a place where people can do that work together. I want members to leave conversations with a clearer sense of what matters, greater confidence in their next decision, and a wider view of what their lives could hold.

The Pre-Launch Founding Membership is an opportunity to join MOMENTUM while the community is still taking shape.
Founding members will do more than arrive early. Their questions, experiences, and perspectives will help establish the culture of the community and influence what it becomes. I’m looking for people who want to think seriously about financial independence, support others pursuing ambitious change, and contribute to a community built around thoughtful action rather than performance.
